 Watercolours in the Forest

A unique occasion happened on Sunday 22nd April 2012 when ten art students came to Hainault Forest Country Park to spend four hours putting their individual interpretation of the Forest using watercolours. Despite the inclement weather of late and the possibility of April showers the weather remained dry for the whole period of working outdoors.

The forest gave students the opportunity to study interesting views with intriguing pathways. The trees framed views like natural windows and showed beautiful natural composition.

The session was guided by Katherine Poluck, a local artist who has a Diploma in Botanical Painting from the Society of Botanical Artists. She has exhibited her work with the Redbridge Art Society. Katherine teaches Watercolours and Botanical Painting at Redbridge Institute of Adult Education at Gants Hill and Wanstead House.

After seeing her work in Epping Forest, the Corporation of London gave her a commission and some of her work appeared in FOREST FOCUS.
