On the 17th November 2012 Members of the London Natural History Society paid a visit to Hainault Forest to look at Lichens on trees and bushes under the leadership of John Skinner of Southend Museum, Lichen Recorder for The Essex Field Club. Many photographs were taken, and I am indebted to George Hounsome of the LNHS for letting me use many of them on this page. In 2003 I visited John Skinner at Southend Museum to check whether I had correctly identified lichens collected at Hainault - I didn't do too badly and John kindly showed me how to use chemical tests as an aid. I have included some photographs from that time.
